My 66 was made in Yugoslavia and it had plastic. It was an 88 model.

I wish there was a good source for a full wrap for this chassis. There are still quite a few people out there that are running them. I have been hunting one for a while, I am thinking of just getting two cheap half wraps and Tig welding one up .

Bruce the site owner.
Needs one to send to get copies made
I couldn't find one i only have a early 266
Wrap they are different full circle.
They are not offset like the later 268/272
Wraps.
I believe the later wraps would be the most successful
Since there seems to be many more single coil saws out there.

Are the fine thread mounts still available? If not I guess it would not do me any good to switch to the metal tank.

Yes they are. Same as the 3120 mounts actually.

The XPG saws, even the 272 had the metal tank too.

Yeah, I forgot about those. Been a long time since I've seen one. NLA of course. The OEM plastic tank lists for $135. Can't imagine what a metal G tank would go for these days.

Started out this morning with my ported 266
Ported 2166 and ported 372
By different Porter's.
All 24" handfiled by me
20190903_165826.jpgall three are strong running saws
20190903_165627.jpgi prefer the 266 it's more compact and a bit lighter than the other 2
60cc saw size basically.
Power wise the 372 takes it but it has a 8 pin
The 266 has a 7 pin
But is a bit more maneuverable and balances great with a 24"
The 6.00 china handle bar worked perfectly
I leaned on it hard blocking.
Trying a 9.00 china carb no issue's at all
Once tuned it didn't need readjustment.20190903_171705.jpg
Just my observations
Everyone's different.

The reason a 266 feels more like a 60cc saw is cause that's what it really started out as. The 162SE and Jonny 630 were both 48mm 62cc saws.

Comparing this saw family to the 372 family is a little different. With the 372's you could say they are "brothers and sisters", all of the same parents. With this 272/670 family it's more like they are all cousins, cause there's far more difference between the models and brands.

Makes the projects all the more interesting to me. Can have fun creating some odd ball saws that never were. Like my Jonsered 636, and the half completed 672. :)

Where did you find a source for good am coils?
For the 2 series.

It disappeared, was getting coils made by Magnetron from South America, great coils. Now Chinese coils are being offered in their stead and the spark is weaker, but the saws do run.

Have an old list from Husqvarna somewhere comparing 266 to 268 part numbers. Nearly nothing matches up exactly as similar as the two are.

What saws did the metal gas tank come on? I see a few advertised on eBay. I did not know if it would interchange with the plastic ones.

I've seen one very early 266 with a metal tank that I know the owner was the original buyer and the saw wasn't messed with.

Metal tanks were on the 162's like in the pics above. They do interchange but use fine thread mounts to screw into the metal tank, where all the plastic tanks used course thread mounts.

I have one metal tank in my horde, been saving it and some other goodies to build a saw to be the end all of my affair with this series if it turns out like I think it can.
