I'm going to build one too all i have is metal targets and it makes my friends nervous i make them wear glasses and have shot many thousands of metal target's but most are a little scared of them.

I have targets made of AR500 armor. Glasses are a must.

The raging bull was the first pistol I shot that was bigger than a hot load in a 357 snub. It was a great experience. At that time we had 5-6 in the family because ever time an uncle shot it, they bought one. Mines long gone to fund schooling.

I have a Toklat in .454. Same gun as yours but with a 5.5" barrel. Pretty comfortable to shoot. The soft grips help a lot.

Very nice i've shot the .480 ruger never got to shoot full house 454 my friend had a freedom arms beutiful gun but only shot reduced loads i think i know why.

What load are you using for practice .in my 9mm mp 9c
i like 147 factory anything or my 148 lead reloads a really gentle load in any 9mm
124 jhp wincher sxt for carry.
Edit i forgot to type i bought 5000 124gr berry's plated bullet's i like those nice consistant groups with bullseye.

When it comes to training stuff I'm not picky. I'll load up whatever is cheap. I used to shoot a lot of lead but I'm slowly switching over to plated because I find the barrel does stay cleaner.

The only time I bite the bullet for FMJ is when I'm doing these ELR courses in West Texas. Quite often we are doing 200+ yard targets with handgun and I found that its next to impossible to see impact at that distance with lead and plated bullets.

Cabelas christmas deal the past three year's I've bought over 8000 9mm .40 .45 bullet's cheap with free ship and those sellier and bellot primers for 20.00 per 1000 I've had great luck with these primers I'm hoping they do a 4th of july sale.

I haven't bought primers or powder since the craziness of 13.

Back when all that craziness was going on. When primers were going for $50+ a box if you could find them my dealer was getting plenty in all at $28-30. He kept getting powder in and selling it at normal prices too.

Needless to say I loaded up, and am still sitting well.

But if primers are $20/1000, I may need to stock up even more....

I remembered about the bfrs but the brass frame 45/70s i read about in the early to mid 80s

I have used 5000 so far no problem.
I haven't shot but about 800 but i like them they seat like cci in my hand primer.

I may get a hand primer, or steal the one Dad never uses someday. Using just a Rock Chucker for now, I could be seating primers while watching football or other misc activities.

The rcbs hand primer i have sucks i like everything else I've tried of theirs.

I think it is the RCBS version, which may explain why he hasn't used it much since buying it. I'll have to ask Him and look for the Hornady one. Eventually I'll have a progressive or Turret at least for straight walled pistol calibers, but for everything else, I'll stick with the single stage. I do like the idea of hand priming and having a better feel for what's actually happening.

I use the RCBS bench mount priming tool, for single stage loading, and like it just fine. It has plenty of leverage but still allows you to feel the primer seat in the pocket. It's also extremely fast.
I've had it for 30+ years and never felt the need to look any further.
