I have two friends who have multiple Kimbers. Theirs function perfectly.
One of them has an Eclipse, that just might be my favorite 1911 ever. I've tried to talk her out of it a few times but she won't part with it.

If you have a Kimber that functions and shoots well you're in luck. 99% of them are GTG

God help you though if you get one that doesn't function right because you sure aren't going to be having Kimber give you any help.

Not bashing them but a gunsmith i know showed me a slide where the breechface was so soft it was slowly caving in .
it was an early external extracter gun don't know why heat treatment issue?
But he said they were asses about it they wanted to recut the breechface causing excessive headspace eventually it took a lot of arguing they wouldn't refund his money but i think the replaced the slide it's been awhile can't remember everything.
But once again i know many shooter's love them no issue's at all.
I did see a paraordnance p14 snap the entire slide rail off one time lol i always wanted one but they are a bit to big for my mitts.

Anybody got a good recipe for short range .260 Rem ?
Sorry, just 6.5 × 55. 120, 140, and 160 grain bullets with either H4831 or IMR4831. I was able to get a 5 shot 1/2" groups load with a stock Winchester 70 featherweight and Ruger 77. The Remington 700 classic would not match these two other rifles. All had the same barrel length and weighed the same but the Remington had a slightly fatter barrel.

Got great groups but my Dads not as accurate as he used to be so looking for more expansion at 100 yards or less right now all we're getting is pencil holes with ballistic hollow point 130grains

Depending on the animal, a smaller bodied whitetail for example, a frangible bullet to the lung area would go off like a Claymore... The wouldn't run far and would still take a few ribs out in the process. Just a thought.

Got a 25/06 that does that nicely, just haven't found the magic bullet combo for that 260 yet

I think with a .260 I'd just either head shoot them or find what distance I could hold myself to the necessary level of accuracy to hit them in the front shoulders/nec intersection. They darn sure don't move when their spinal cord is ruined.

Dang it quit showing me the shield. Thats what I really really prefer.

But I want to see how this Taurus slim feels first. Told guy if I win the march madness work pool I am in = looks like I will. I would buy his like new one off him with 2 oem mags. New they only come with 1 mag.

I won the NCAA march madness picks at work . So I decided to invest my winning in a sub compact 9mm to have something to show for it. Plus it should be my last one. Won it twice over the years.
Laughed when the guy handed me the $$$ this morning and he stated he would be running it next year too. It hit me I wouldnt be there.

I really wanted the shield but when grabbing it just didnt fit right on first grab.

Went with Taurus 709 for feel and size etc. Dont care for the long trigger pull though. But I wont be slowly squeezing off shots with this anyways. It has one purpose IMO.
Has something I am not used to. If for some reason it dont go off you can pull the trigger again on same round.

Reading up on that re-strike trigger deal.

Taurus describes the 709 as a double- action/single-action (DA/SA) pistol. I find this description to be a little misleading. More accurately, the Taurus 709 Slim is a single-action pistol that has repeat strike capability. In other words, during normal operation, the pistol always functions in a single action mode. There is no way to de-cock the pistol for carry.

However, in the event of a failure to fire, the trigger reverts to a double-action mode, permitting another strike on the unfired cartridge by simply pulling the trigger again. The theory is that rounds with hard primers may, in some instances, fire on the second at tempt. There is some disagreement in the training community as to whether you should waste time trying repeated strikes on bad ammo, but I see nothing wrong with having this feature available if desired.

I'm use to clearing and cambering dont no if I can break that habit to even try this. Unless just shooting out back.

Taurus slim has a long but smooth trigger. Dont like how long it is before it breaks, but for the type gun it isnt for target shooting. So it wont matter.

Put both the practice 147gr HP and the 147gr XTP through and was flawless.

I had to read the owners manual as I had the site all screwed up LOL. Hitting low left. Will shoot again soon to see if I figured it out after reading manual on the 2 adjustments.

In my hand the 709 feels better (more natural grip) then the shield and 43.

Talked to owner of gun before me. Gun is like new with maybe a box of 50 through it with 115gr.
He had the sites wrong too. LOL He said I guess I should have read the owners manual too.
