No, you'd need to go the other direction (raise the carriage) to get less side plate angle. Or you can change the small side dresser angle.
Lol. Yes I got it backwards. So I raised the carriage and slid it back. Looks like only way to tell what angles will be is to try it.
Only thing I see wrong now is the slide started to hang up just before tooth contact on the right side where it was before but smooth as silk on the left. Now with the adjustments it gets tight just before either side makes contact. Almost seemed like something is bent. Any insight Shawn?
Wipe the slide and the bearings outer races off, you just have grinding dust buildup. A paper towel with a little brake clean works great.
Those angles are looking pretty good.
I have a swing arm. The only way for me to adjust the forward lean is by shaping the stone. I am not at all familiar with the adjustments available on the grinder you are working with. DWLooking at this a little more. This is the orientation of the tooth right now to align the corner.
Looks to me if I drop the carriage so the tooth can be dead center top like this
It would correct both angles.
However it would hit the raker.
So I think I need to adjust the angles on the stone to get it where I want without hitting the rakers.
Before I do this am I seeing this correctly?
It may be a little bigger at the ends than in the middle causing it to bind up a little towards the extremes. Anyway, you shouldn't need to slide it in that far, move the carriage ahead a little and it will put you further out on the stone.
Ok I'll try that tomorrow. Will that continue to get worse over time?
Also that will increase the top plate angle correct?
It shouldn't. It's left over wear from the original slide block.
It won't increase the top plate much until the stone gets small.
