How HOT are the handles on a 550xpg?

I am going to my dealer to buy a 550xp tomorrow. If I get the heated handles how hot do they get? Can I feel the warmth through my gloves? Do I need to hold them with bare hands to get any benefit from them? I cut alot in the cold and they intrigue me.

You can feel it through gloves. Not sure how hot they actually get. The one saw I have is a 266xpg

The warmest saws I got is 2253WH/550XPG, they have better heat & wiring system compared to the 3xx serie.
Some of this is because 550 is 10.2k rpm machine, rpm generate voltage.

Since you are working alot in the cold it's an easy choice, buy one XPG, you will not regret it, and its not only in the cold days its nice to have, just wait until you doing firewood work in a cold rainy day, you gone love that heat system.

How much are you paying?

A 550xp with 16" is 579 I don't know what an XPG will run me but they will take care of me. That's why I go there.

unfortantly, there is no system on how much extra you have to pay for one XPG vs XP.
In Norway we pay only 35$ extra for the G, while those poor guys in Sweeden has to pay 110$ extra.
US normally has nice prices, my guess is that you will be in the price range as we have in Norway.

If you can, try to get one 550XPG who was made in 16, updated top cover, p&c etc

I can definitely feel the heat through my gloves on my 440. It's super nice in cold weather. I bet it's great in wet conditions also.

As far as price, I think Husqvarna prices their extra letter a lot more reasonably than stihl does. Of course, that may be because stihl adds two letters to make it heated and Husky only adds one. Twice the letters twice the price, I guess.

Ya but if I have any problems I'm not shipping it back to spike. My dealer will have to fix it. I just don't feel right getting warranty work done some ware that didn't get the sale.

understand that. my warranty was voided before it ever saw fuel.

I would say from 10°C ie 50F and down.
Most dont think it mather so much from 50-40F, if you have 41F, rain & wind, well, at least I apreciate those heathers in that type weather.
I dont use glows, several winters since I tossed them.
