The 3/8lp/picco rim actually is slightly larger than the standard 3/8". 1.436" vs. 1.381 on the pair I just measured. I remember running across someone saying a worn .404 pitch rim works. I actually turned one down in the lathe and it seems to work. I still would like to find a 3/8lp/picco rim for normal small splines.
I did run 3/8lp on a regular rim with a 525 jonsered. I left the chain slightly loose and it worked. It never seemed "right". No noticeable wear on the rim or drive links after about half life of the chain. I switched it back to .325.
I run a Stihl rim machined by homelite410 on my 490 to run 3/8lp. I've got 5 AM rims I going to try machining for the small spline husky/echo drums. Not many folks interested in 3/8lp so I haven't been in a hurry to get them done.

I attempted to bore one out but found it was too hard for the tooling I was using. Was thinking about annealing one to machine and rehardening. I wonder if my brother could steal some time on his employers wire edm machine. I wouldn't want to know how much that would actually cost.

I need to try the .325 again. It's been awhile since I played with it.
Stihl 23 RSP is a thing! They obviously decided to re-engineer the shape and steel compound on this stuff. It is hard. I grind, so have no experience filing. It lasted a loooong time before I felt I should sharpen it. Match made in heaven for a 50 cc saw with 8 pin. You cannot duplicate the factory profile without some serious compound filing, but like I said, I eventually squared it on a grinder.

Like Dan said, I don’t think RSP is a separate entity.
I’m not certain, but I don’t think Stihl made a .325 .050 before this stuff. Could be wrong though...

I never remember seeing any .325 .050 Stihl chain. I don't think they made it since they didn't make any bars in .325 .050. Until now that is.

Availability is spotty. I’ve seen the Stihl bars in pictures, but haven’t been able to buy one. I am running Sugihara and Tsumura bars without any problems.

Back to regional gauge issues. Stihl .325 has always been .50 in my area. I think the issue you’ll run into when running 23rsp on a normal bar is poor cutting once the teeth are half worn. It’s one of the issues I had when running picco on a 261 with a cannon bar even though it was a narrow kerf bar

Just found out the .325 .050 has been around as the above poster mentioned. It's called the 23RSC and looks like full size .325.

As far as I know all standard stihl chain 325 and 3/8 are built on a standard chassis that’s why the pre-sets are the same regardless of gauge, the driven part of drive links are just ground thinner. The new 23rsp narrow kerf is a different chassis pre-sets are not interchangeable with 23rs chain
