Morning everybody. Got a couple basketball games to attend to today at 10 & 4. When the games are spread out like that, it kinda screws the whole day for anything else such as cutting wood. Guess I could sharpen the chain I put in the dirt yesterday. Maybe we could load the brush that needs hauled off between games.

And this weather has been amazing, not too hot, not too cold.

Got to play around in the shop a little tonight. Finished up some Walnut frames for my autographed posters and such.



Also, cut up some Walnut 8/4 pieces my brother brought home from work. Gonna use them to do some turning. They're only about 10-14 inches long. Probably got about two dozen pieces though. Also made a chain for my 36" bar for the 660. Pretty productive night.

I've made some furniture in my day. Dressers, China cabinets, tables and desks. The high end stuff. Speaking with a little bit of experience here - those look very nice. Good joints with excellent mating surfaces and you selected a nice grain with just the right amount of contrast. Well done. I've never used walnut that narrow for doors, did you you assemble with anything besides glue?

Alright gents, breakfast is a distant memory and I've got a big pot of brown beans cooking. I've also reassembled two little Stihls and started on the second pot of coffee. The boys are up and Digger and I are about to tackle his MS 211. He would like to have it running and use it at the GTG.

35 degrees outside. This afternoon we will probably head out to an old barn that collapsed and gather some lumber to recycle.

Got one bottom end started, the guy had two broken water jacket
Plugs I had to repair, they had stripped the plug that holds the fuel pump rod in, I should have had the first short block finished

Sore and tired but a good day. The boys and I reclaimed eight 4x6 treated timbers, each about 12' long. We also managed several "feet" for the posts, some t posts, a usable walk through gate and some other small bits. Mason pinched a finger while tearing down some fence but otherwise no injuries. Afterward we went to see my Mom and Dad and had a good visit there. Perfect timing, too - Mom was taking oatmeal raisin cookies out of the oven as we walked in.

Almost too hot to eat, conforms to the shape of your hand while you hold them. Way good. I stopped after 6.

My brother gets some of the cover boards from work and there's usually enough left for small, thin projects. Nothing besides glue. Kind of cheating though. My dad has a shaper so we just set it up to make cabinet doors, then take a router and recess the back for glass. Gotta get more mat board. Can't beat those frames for the price. Once they get matting and some poly, they'll look pretty sharp.
