Be careful using that boat trailer to haul wood. Its designed to carry boats which are significantly lighter than a load of wood. Unless youve reinforced the axle it may fold up on you. Knew a guy that happened to. Driving down the road and before he knew it one if his wheels was at a 45^ angle to the axle. Just sayin

It's a trailer kit with a 1750 lb payload. It will not haul that big log.

If your ever in the market for a new trailer look up Jims Trailer sale in Topeka on South Topeka blvd. They make some to order and are cheaper that TCS or Orschelens. And nice log.

September 16th. It is just north of Harrison AR.

10 degree top plate angle is desirable for chainsaw milling.

Full chisel or semi chisel.

And it will self feed much better if you drop the rakers to .040" after grinding the top plate to 10 degrees....just as in crosscutting full chisel is a bit faster but not as durable of a holding edge.... as semi is not quite as fast bit takes a bit longer to dull in harder density or dirty wood......

We got to practice leverage and fulcrums and a logs as rollers. The pioneers earned there housing. Oh and cable come a long. Had a good time John. He also to me to a great place to eat called the Mad Hatter. Ate way to much.

Picked up some overload springs for my truck a couple of days ago. Traded a Lawnboy Duraforce for them. (Those lawnboys are coming in handy) Spent the day installing them and some newish bigger shocks I had laying around. They raised it a couple of inches and now it rides like a serious truck. Reckon this one is a keeper now. ​

So when you say drop the rakers to .040, how is that measured? I'm trying to imagine it. Normally I have a file guide I set on top of the chain and file anything sticking up out of there. Is 040 the thickness the guide should be?

I ended up going with an aluminum kit from Northern, and my plan is to make the lightest weight covered multi purpose trailer I can. Square aluminum tube ribs and either steel roofing panels or a papier-mâché with waterproof wood glue with a marine coating. It won't be a serious wood hauler, I guarantee it...
