Looking good. On that mmms head did you measure the ports? Were they wider that stock? Did you grind on the or use the base gasket?
I ground a small lip off on the intake but I didn't measure it any. No base gasket put it at .020. when me and Alan look at it I'll see what he says

It's supposed to be cast off a cylinder Randy ported but i don't know how far he went on it

Cool the stock head on mine looked like it only had the base gasket removedI just could believe how small the exhaust port was. then make my parts list I noticed the muffler gasket was the same for a couple smaller saws.

Got Rubydoo wired to pull the camper now, finally. Took her out to get gas, no turn signals. Blown fuse. Took her back home to check if I did something wrong. Looked at every connection and routing. Nothing wrong. Was underneath the back end looking at the 7 way connector. Only thing different I did, from previous, was I hooked up the ground wire to the frame of the truck. That's by instructions. Took the ground wire off the frame. Stopped blowing fuses. Turn signals and back up lights are on the same fuse. Everything was fine until I put it in reverse, then pow, blown fuse. Only thing I can think of is there is a short within the 7 way connector. Next step in making sure everything is in working order is to hook up the camper and check things out.
Hopefully I won't be looking for another camper to replace the one that burned to the frame.
:)

Trailer wiring is always a PITA. It's pretty simple but amazingly frustrating... I will hopefully be acquiring a departed friend's 18' car hauler that I've been using as needed for some time. I will have to redo a bit of wiring but otherwise it's good. Eventually an axle swap might happen for 5k axles just for the better bolt pattern and to have functioning brake on both. I'm a fan of being able to stop in a controlled fashion, when necessary.

Nothing beats sealed beam trailer lights. Run a ground from the truck to every light and you're done!

I put sealed LEDs in it awhile back, least I could do for letting me use it freely... They were cheap chinese ones, that weren't cheap to buy, from a place in Derby called the Big Tool Store. Their internal modules are failing due to vibration after about 2 years. I'll buy better ones and a good sealed wire lead and be in business.

Being a firearm and hunting fanatic, I picked up the latest issue of rifle magazine and read its article on the new 33 Nosler. I may have to make one of those. .338WM+ performance in a .30'06 length action and no belt from a hand loading perspective... Normally I could care less about new cartridges, but it and the 28 intrigue me greatly as a bigger companion to my trusty .243 Ruger and iron sighted 8mm Mauser. Might be another reason to visit Colorado and Montana more often.

Trailer lights can be a pain. Even on OEM factory wiring. New 2015 RAM truck and the right turn signal on trailer would not work. Traced it down to the factory wiring harness had a bent connector pin at a connection under the truck above the spare tire. Grr!
What sort of mileage empty and towing do get out of that 5500 Ram and with what gears?

I put trailer lights on my splitter last year to go to Thomas's splitting party. I figured the brushy places this thing would go so I put all the wiring inside flexible conduit. Not had any problems from it. I plan on doing the same with my flat bed trailer too.
