Trailer wiring is always a PITA. It's pretty simple but amazingly frustrating... I will hopefully be acquiring a departed friend's 18' car hauler that I've been using as needed for some time. I will have to redo a bit of wiring but otherwise it's good. Eventually an axle swap might happen for 5k axles just for the better bolt pattern and to have functioning brake on both. I'm a fan of being able to stop in a controlled fashion, when necessary.
Going is optional

Stopping is mandatory

What sort of mileage empty and towing do get out of that 5500 Ram and with what gears?

Mileage is getting better with miles. Truck is 12k lbs empty and trailer is 6600 lbs. Truck has 4.88 gears Pulling trailer I average 8 mpg. Empty 9-11 mpg.

Being a firearm and hunting fanatic, I picked up the latest issue of rifle magazine and read its article on the new 33 Nosler. I may have to make one of those. .338WM+ performance in a .30'06 length action and no belt from a hand loading perspective... Normally I could care less about new cartridges, but it and the 28 intrigue me greatly as a bigger companion to my trusty .243 Ruger and iron sighted 8mm Mauser. Might be another reason to visit Colorado and Montana more often.
That's really cool, 8mm Mauser. I've got one my Father In Law gave me.
Shoots real nice.

Dad got it awhile back but His eyesight doesn't support iron sight shooting in the waning light. It has a nice Walnut stock, a Dayton-Traister trigger and a Williams rear receiver sight. Its throat is a bit shot-out as the only bullets it shoots well are 200gr+ and it does pretty well with 220gr Sierras. Eventually I may have it either re-barreled or the barrel re-bored to .338-06 or .35 Whelan, but I'm leaning towards the .338 for bullet selection. It feels very good in hand and shoulders quickly. Handloading the 8x57 makes it a very formidable cartridge every bit the equal of the '06.

Umm. I'm not a gun expert.
Only thing I really know about mine is it was made in 1891. And still looks nice and shoots sweet.

I have a 1954 model FN Mauser in 7x57.
It was my deer hunting partner's.
He got it at an estate auction for a pittance as most of the bidders assumed it was just a military conversion.
I used to reload for it and:
308. Remington 600
6.5x55. Carl Gustav conversion
7mm Rem. Mag. Mark X
260 Rem. Arisaka conversion
38/357. Smith 686
9x19 Luger. Browning HP
9x18 Mackrov. Mac

I don't dare shoot large centerfire anymore because it hurts my bony shoulder.
