A chance of sprinkles after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Light and variable wind becoming south southwest 11 to 16 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 28

I have been kicking around another projectile launcher. Burning hair, wasting time, ink & brain cells trying to decide on a suitable choice. 257 Roberts, 257 Weatherby Mag, 243 Winchester, 25-06 Remington.

Pondered a 22 creedmore or 25 creedmore but I just can’t bring my self to by a creedmore. 6.5 fanboys pretty well ruined on those for me. My son bought one & I about fell out of my chair when he told me.

Had a 257 Roberts Ackley Improved but I sold it to my son. Bull barrel with bipod, it was a heavy pig to move around.

Leaning towards a 243 short barrel to carry around in trucks/tractors to smoke smoke coyotes.

My vote is for a .243. I have an old Herter's .243 that is a tack driver. 5 shot groups at 100 yards so tight that you can put a dime over the group draw a line around it and all the holes are inside the line. A better shot could probably do even better.

If that is the case, I say you are a pretty solid shot. i bet I could do worse, lol

Afternoon. Off early today for a change, waiting on dad to show up to help load steer to go to processor. Nice if you get out of the wind. I need to clean my tractor windows since it is so dry and dirty around here lately. And then I decided I needed a little red meat in my diet this weekend. Dry brine Saturday for grilling on Sunday. Pictures for Thomas of course.

That’s pretty impressive.

I haven’t shot enough in the last few years to do that. Just getting back into hunting & shooting so still getting my mechanics back into form.

The 243 is the likely candidate. The Ruger Gen 2 have been pretty solid for me but eyeballing Tikkas, Bergaras & Brownings as well.

I already have some Talley one piece x-bolt rings so been looking the Brownings over.

Then there is the ammo …

All sound interesting to me....
243 would be a my choice......or 25-06 because a lot of people don't like it due to the long case.

I like the older cartridges, just because.
Had a creedmore once for a few days.....it didn't float my boat.

Scheels usually has several used launchers at decent prices, I will likely try to look at their stock.

Bass Pro is usually overpriced on used unless you can stumble onto a good deal.

I haven’t seen any auctions coming up around here.

How ever much gravel you think you need, may as well double it or at least that’s been my experience. It never goes as far as one thinks it should.
Yup.....that's the second load for this project.

I really hate buying rocks.....we've got a massive surplus of the pesky things, but they're all too big to be useful for anything but filling ginormous craters & mud holes.

You run out of hammers for the kids to make them smaller?
