You say it’s cracked, but how bad is the crack?
It’s plastic, maybe just patch it?

How bad does oil hinder plastic welding on something like that. Thinking of threads that dealt with welding crank halves where they were degreased and baked and then degreased again to clean enough to weld.

If the crack is minimal, tip it up, clean it off, and weld or sand and epoxy.

Good morning y’all. Spent Friday night at vet urgent care. My boy swallowed part of a rubber ball. It was all on me. I knew the ball was torn and should have taken it from him. He was really happy to see all the new people there. They induced vomiting and it came back up easily. I sure was relieved. My sister has a golden retriever and he’s been there a few times. You could try Seal All too. It’s made for sealing cracks in just about any material. I’ve used it to seal fuel tanks and oil tanks. Pick it up at just about any hardware or auto parts store. Yellow squeeze tube.

So last couple of weeks noticed just a bit of bar oil under my saw. Last week we kept saws in the back of the truck and noticed but wasn’t a whole lot and there was still oil in the tank. Closer looking and there is a crack just under the cap for the oil. It is on a MS390 and a new tank is $127 from race bros. Has anyone changed one of these out? Looks like almost a whole year down to replace.

Ms290 and Ms390 are basically the same saw. 390 is just a bigger bore, same stroke.
Everything else will interchange. You can take a 290, slap a 390 cylinder and piston on it and you’ve now got a 390. I had a 390 once, was an excellent saw. Sold it to buy parts for a truck I had. Wouldn’t mind having another one.

Epoxy or JB Weld will likely work if some carb cleaner is used to clean things up, then sanded & applied.

Watched eagles come into the pines at my parents for a while this morning. Probably over 40 in the trees at one point. Then some looky-loos came in and spooked them which is why so many are in the air at once. Dead end road, need to start charging tolls to make a little money.

I don't know much about it, but there are some plastics that benefit from hitting the surface with a torch flame to remove the gloss. It has an affect on roughening the surface to accept paint or adhesives. You could probably find more info using Google our youtube.
