Morning folks, 38° and only supposed to get to mid 40's. Going to try to get a little done around the place, too tired to spend any time driving right now. Wind is blowing pretty hard out right now, coming from the northwest.

That is the only option. Almost full cutters too. I don't know if I can get them short enough.

It's a 28 inch bar on a 461; maybe I can put it on my 260 and just use it for limbing...
Just use it and keep grinding..
it’ll get a little better each time..
Chains have gotten too expensive to not use all of.

wat raker gauge are you talking about? i use thge husky ones
I use them too. They work very good; never had a problem with them. I was using a grinder, instead of hand filing, and must have set the depth wrong; maybe the stop self adjusted.

Went and bought two stihl chains on New Year’s Eve to go cut last week cause didn’t have a good sharp chain with out a lot of work sharpening. Ended up being $2 an inch and cashier said hey they are on sale each one. 16 and 20 inch bars and total was $72

So last couple of weeks noticed just a bit of bar oil under my saw. Last week we kept saws in the back of the truck and noticed but wasn’t a whole lot and there was still oil in the tank. Closer looking and there is a crack just under the cap for the oil. It is on a MS390 and a new tank is $127 from race bros. Has anyone changed one of these out? Looks like almost a whole year down to replace.

Morning all, 27° with maybe lower 40's today. Waiting for the sun to come out to check things out.

Have you looked at aftermarket tanks to save a little money? I don't play stihl but those are clam shell saws so it would just be unbolt and transfer everything else to the tank assembly. Several on here have played with those so I am sure someone else will chime in on how to do it.

You say it’s cracked, but how bad is the crack?
It’s plastic, maybe just patch it?

Took the Widow of my old firewood partner "Lefty" out to eat last night. Great food, fair pricing with fantastic service, and we all brought enough home for 2 more meals. I think she enjoyed it as he did not leave her with any nest egg.
