Beware of ticks and poison ivy in this heat and humidity. I'm not sure which one of these two is worse. Those chiggers are a small nightmare also, but poison ivy and ticks both love sawyers.

I remember a bad heat wave we had a few years back.

2 weeks of 100 plus and a couple 107 days..

I remember when it hit about 101-102 the humidity just dumped.. it was so hot even the chiggers and ticks went dormant...

2010 was the worst I ever remember, it was triple digits for 62 consecutive days in North Louisiana that summer.

IIRC 2010 was the year we had the miserable *s-word too. I could get out about 6:30 and start cutting hedge trees cuz tolerable..
But by 9:00 I was sweated dry and had to bail..

I think our brains cooked just a little that day.. and we worked as long as we could in the shade. If that day don’t melt a splitter down, nuthin will..

I remember that charity cut. It was in August. I had brought generators and fans to set up and some portable shelters for shade. I knew it was going to be hot. We got started about 8am if I recall and cut until noon then took a lunch break. After lunch is when the sun started getting bad. We’d been cutting in the shade most of the morning. But about 2pm it was time to stop, it was way too hot that day and the only Charity Cut that was done in summer.

I remember getting naked, drying off, and changing clothes in the middle of the dirt road after it was over, getting in my truck, and going to eat at Lambert's, where I began cramping at the dinner table.

Stephen was there and managed to rock 2 chains in record time.

There was another guy there too, that I haven't seen around in years; tall guy, younger, in the military I believe, used to be more active in the thread on AS. Can't remember his name. He was cutting with a stock 260, 20" bar, and a dull chain; as if 100+ degrees wasn't bad enough.

We vowed to never have another Charity Cut in the summer,,,,,,ever. GOOD TIMES!!!!!!

It was indescribable, we were working 12 and 14 hour days that summer to boot on some warranty conversions.

Been trying to remember it. He was stationed at a recruiter station in KC. But the last I heard he was transferred to a base in Minnesota. That was several years ago. I do remember him saying the heat at that Cut wasn’t really that bad as he had just recently come back from a tour in Iraq. He was used to 120+ degrees.
I looked at him like he had two heads. How on earth does one “get used” to 120+ temperatures.

Steve it seems us humanoids are adaptable; from 120° Inna desert to well below zero near the north pole we've found ability to stay alive and reproduce for a few millenia.
A person from one extreme won't survive in the other.
