Got to add a couple more to the running shelves today. Craftsman 52-30 and an old 1962 HOE/PARTNER R11. Maybe a thread on repairs to get them going again, just reversing years of neglect and abuse.
The old HOE has a new chain and sprocket on order and should be ready for a GTG. It took a year and a two parts saws to get the old HOE going again, now runs good.

We had running boards on our 2000 Dodge van.

Ran over a skunk. Bit of hide got caught on a bracket.

Had to park in in the school lot across the street for several days. Knocked it off with a stick. [emoji1785]

Yes, I am thinking I can work around it. It’s a 26” at the butt & 24” at the other end. 7’ long.
So there should be some decent boards even after heartwood cracks out.

A few splits on up the tree had ice around heartwood when I split it.

I should get a few boards out of it. The rest will burn nicely.

I should get a few boards out of it. The rest will burn nicely.

When you get it up on the mill, try to line up the plane of your first cut even distance from the center on each end. Once you do that, pick the thickness of the boards you want and mill them full slabs. Once you get all the slabs of the proper thickness, you can then pick and choose the boards you want by getting rid of the heartwood”pith” with a circular saw and a chalk line.

It’s that pith that is evil... The boards to either side of it or quarter sawn.
