We lost my wonderful MIL last night, age 100 plus. A favorite memory is when she made this “sponge cake” for a friend’s birthday party. She was 92 and the cake was real sponge! She couldn’t bear watching him trying to cut it politely and had to leave the room to laugh!

Had a bunch of trouble with the Post office, my bank and Suddenlink (cable company).

First problem was the check I sent to the cable co. disappeared. It happens every three or four months lately. Then I get the next months bill for double the normal amount plus a delinquent charge. This last time they shut off our service (tv, internet, WiFi, etc.).

Then I noticed I was behind on the Visa bill. Two attempts to use the bank app to pay that resulted in failure. Stopped at the bank branch and found our sub. letter carrier returned to sender my December Visa statement. Plus the outage of the bank app resulted in a delay which put me way ahead on the charge card (two payments).

We have been here on South 29th for 36 years but almost every time we get a substitute letter carrier, we get no mail.

It’s the only house on 29th street for ten blocks north or fifteen blocks south.

Somewhere in the postal system are six or seven checks payable to Suddenlink.

I think there is a black hole at PO Box 70340, Philadelphia, PA.

My checks are circling the drain there.

We just got the black ish kind and the well marked kind..

But all just water snakes.. we kill em as if they were poisonous.
