I got a stihl 171 give to me the other day non running from setting. I’m sure it’s carb. What is the recipe on these? Muff mod timing advance?

Just get the replacement carb and open muffler..
They are cheap *s-word, but pretty good Runner’s..

If you really want them to sing, use a WT215 adjustable carb and throw the filter in the trash...

It’ll probably last same amount of time... lol

And yes, a litt advance won’t hurt em a bit...

Muf mod helps all epa saws, haven't tried timing advance, let me know how it goes. When I was younger, & had more hope n energy, picked up a couple adjustable carbs that may be that size. Needs that lil orange handled screwdriver lol

Morning everybody! Had a heck of a rain here last night. No idea how much, but it sure came down hard and fast. Water was over the road east of my house.

Got hit hard leaving my parents last night. Mom talked to her sister down by Gum springs and she said that she thought at least 5" in an hour. Ditches were running full and onto B highway last night as I rolled through. Time I got home it was a sprinkle and we maybe had got a 1/4".

Sounded like fireworks to our south last night...

Guess it was the natural kind..

Fuel dripping out of the carb. We have a replacement on order. [emoji1696]

Been thru it (damn Zama to hell!). Not doing it a second time.

Any of you guys familiar with the Craftsman “komby” type powerheads?

Fellow dropped one here won’t stay running. Good spark & 130 psi.

Made their mix with diesel and chain on backwards.

Fuel supply sucking air. Fixed that.

Carb won’t pass fuel even after a flush with carb cleaner.

Edit: The thing is an MTD. [emoji849]

130 seems way too low.

I’m taking into account the testers long hose and the small displacement (25cc).

Conventional 30-32 cc perform OK at 130.

On clam shell Stihls , how you get compression up?
I'd like to get a 180 up a bunch ,

I love the 180 I built, it stays in my Ranger for trail riding
