I've never done any milling but from what I see, hear and discuss with those that do milling any one of those 3 are the ones to use.
If I were to get onto milling, I think the 395 would be my choice.

That's what I've read and that's how I arrived at the choices I did. 395 would be the best choice economically by a good bit which is why I threw it in there.

My direct experience milling is limited to 70-90cc PH Stihl brand. Once the 661 broke in I smile while it's throwing chips. I have used mufmodded 460 with skip chisel with 42 " bar on ash with decent success.
If you find a ported 90cc saw in your price range I'd go for it, everything else being compatible with what you may have in existing inventory. Which is why Stihl is all I use regularly by me. Limits need for bar&chain combos and so on.
Enjoy safely

Yeah, that's kinda my thinking as well, which is how I ended up with my 660's. I know there's a fella on here that makes an adapter allowing use of Stihl bars on Husky saws, which is another reason, besides price, I even considered the 395. I like to keep things uniform and simple, as much as possible.

3120 is better..

No replacement for displacement...

And aux Oiler...

And that's why I thought the 3120 might be the way to go. I figured it wouldn't have to work as hard, but I didn't know how a ported, next size down would perform against it.

Thanks for the info and y'alls opinions. The reasons all of you give for your choices are why those saws made my short list. I'll get decided here after I sell some more stuff that's taking up space. Thank you gentlemen! I sincerely appreciate the input!

Good afternoon y'all. I've been going through a box of NOS a fella gave me several years ago. I'd forgotten how much was in it. If I was into demo saws, it would be a goldmine. It has all the engine parts for a vintage Stihl 08 chainsaw build but the parts lot was obviously for the Stihl 350 demo saw. Cool stuff!20201111_151847.jpg

Just added another of the Husqvarna 2 series to my collection. Looked a long time to find one of these.

Piston delivered this PM. We can get back in the 200t rodeo.

This is the parts saw in the beer box project.

Sold the beer box. [emoji108]

Edit:
Base gasket (.020”) delete gives us .030” piston crown clearance. [emoji108]

.020” gasket on a 60cc saw ain’t much but on the little fella, it’s significant.

Reminds me of John, I think that is what his name was. Oliver1655 or something like that was his screen name. He loved those Stihl 08s, he still used them to cut wood.

Well hope everyone is doing well. Been working around the house all week. Been on rona quarantine since Monday. Be off at least another week. Me and the wife are doing good though. Good news is I got a new 572 and a stack of logs to cut up! Been working on the lean to addition on my shop today. 23’ long by 30’ wide. All steel structure.

Pics?

I’ve been toying with the idea of a 40x60 steel building.

Good morning y'all.

From what I've read, the 08 looks like it would be a cool old saw to build. I may see if I can find a decent carcass.

Here is a pic in process. Gotta add center supports to the trusses. Mostly 2x2x14ga tubing. I used some bent plate I had for purlins. And had a few 8” Z purlins. The best way I’ve found to build a steel structure is chicken house trusses. I’ve got some just gotta lengthen the legs and add purlins and your good to go. And cheap.

Too political.

Got to a stood Stihl on the 200t. Need a fuel/vent hose and my evilbay rewind starter went from St. Paul to Shreveport, La. WTH!

USPS is like artillery fire. Shoot long and drop range until they hit the target. [emoji19] As of now we been ‘bracketed’. Maybe next hit will be Omaha or DesMoines. [emoji1787]
