350 and 353 45mm cylinders are the same. Just the piston is different. 353 had a flat top piston and 350 has a dished piston. All other parts interchange. 353 has a mag case, and 350 is plastic. If it's just for a firewood buddy and you don't want to put much in it, is just buy a 353 flat piston and build it. If you want some more spice to it, put a 346 top end on it. Both will serve him well. This series of saws has become my favorite. With a 346 p/c on it they are fun light firewood saws.
