Making progress. Found some fittings at T/S today. Got the valve remounted, son made some brackets to further brace it from movement. That's what caused the crack to begin with. Will make another bracket to mount the filter assembly tomorrow evening then hook up the return hose, fill it with fluid and test everything. Then install trailer lights.

Has it got spark? (I know, stupid question). If it doesn't sit under cover, check the carb float bowl. I bet it has water in it. They won't suck up water.

You missed it but were on the right track with the carburetor. Float hung and dumped half a tank of non-ethanol into the crankcase. Nasty mess. I drained it, flushed with old oil, cleaned the carb and made sure the float was okay. Fresh oil, more fuel and away we go. Starts and runs as it should. I will have to give it a bath before I get to Muskogee. Everything is covered in oily, gassy, greasy grime.

Lights still work! Woo Hoo! Road ready and can't wait to go!

Looks good, Steve. I see you also opted for the custom fabricated engine cover like I have.

Glad everyone is uninjured. I am always worried about snagging something on the way down. I've had a close call once or twice but have always managed to figure a (safe) solution.

There's a guy at work that is wanting to sell a 390 XP parts saw. It looks like the only unblemished parts would be the piston, cylinder, carb, and maybe the crank. I think he said that it lost a battle with a falling tree. Looks like every other part has an "issue" of some sort. I told him I'd see if there was any interest.

That would be nice but I don't have access to any at the moment!! Side tensioner on those I assume.....
Pop it straight up and out.
I finally pried on it til it started moving. They had tightened it too far and had it all jammed up in the front up against the case. They twisted it so hard it broke one of the teeth clean off of the gears. Chain is obviously stretched and needs a link taken out......
