Visited with the local Husqvarna dealer today in Ozark. Real nice guys. Finally got the big bar for the 390 fitted with a chain. 404 semi chisel was all he had in bulk so I took it. Bar measured out to be 36 inches. Dollar an inch. :)

There not to bad. Have you been to the husky dealer across the highway from walmart in Nixa?

Husky selling stihl whaaaat

They mainly sell lawnmowers.

What color did you end up with and are tou baking that in side?
I just used black since y'all said it would mess up any other color and yeah I'm going to bake it inside the paint dries without baking and has been drying in 10 mins in my garage I just want to make sure it's hard. It's got 3 coats on it

Anybody know what brand of saw this is? Saw in a box it is. My next project to put together. Looks like a LOT of new parts in the box. Cylinder I've got looks brand new and 2 new pistons. Bearings, seals, gaskets. Two air covers in the box. One says Mcculloch the other doesn't say. But two different style covers. I need to get rings for it. Only thing I can't find in a box anywhere. Well, I did find a bag of 6 rings but they won't fit in the ring grooves and, when I put one in the cylinder, the ends overlap by about .005. They won't work. Bore measures 40mm. Ring grooves measure 1.2mm. I plugged those measurements into eBay and can get a pack of ten from hutzle for about $10. My question is since I have a 1.2mm groove don't the rings I need, need to be slightly thinner or are these machined already to fit the groove. They just call them 1.2mm.
One engine cover, that says Mcculloch, gives a model number of MS40A. Cylinder has MS40 cast into it. Closest I can find in IPL's is a 4018. Which gives a part number of 9189-310801-A. I plugged that into eBay and come up with a set of Mcculloch rings but with a different part number and they don't say what the dimensions are for the rings. Plus they're more expensive as compared to the others. $18 for two vs 10 for $10. I know, $18 is not bad but I don't know the dimensions.
I know, you all are thinking "Steve, why on earth are you screwing with this thing". It's fun. I just got done assembling a Husky 51 from its atoms. And had to use atoms from other boxes of atoms to make it a complete runner.
But I had a blast doing it.
If I'm not mistaken, the MS40a was a Redmax GZ4000? Craftsman, Ryobi, and Troy Bolt had ones as well.

Actually, had forgot all about them. Wife works around the corner from them so I've seen them. Figured they were just mowers so I haven't stopped in. All my mowers are 2 stroke anyway.

Cut for 4-5 hours today. Only got one nice load of oak, but helped the land owner clean up a couple oaks that were blown over. A large part of the big one was rotten but the top was in good shape. He set the good stuff aside (with his tractor) for me to process later. I will get a pic of the loaded trailer tomorrow. Had my boys with me all day. They ran around the property like wild monkeys most of the time.

Came home and got the worst cramp of my life in my left hamstring. SOB wouldn't stop, I was yelling, almost in tears. The only thing that helped was bending over like to touch my toes. Everytime I tried to stand up straight, the SOB fired up again....then I about passed out from bending over for so long. Finally stood up and propped my leg on a table like a girly ballerina. My daughter came running, said she thought I was having a heart attack. I was having a heart attack in my leg alright.

Anyhow, it was a good day minus the devil cramp.

Drink pickle juice to replenish magnesium. It works.
