Coby, a lot of people use those tall rings to allow them to also be able to use the iron sights that are installed on the rifle. In theory that's in case of your hunting dangerous game or something and your scope gets damaged that you still have a means of adequately firing the rifle.
In all my years of hunting and shooting I've never known anybody ever use the backup iron sights because of the damaged scope, kind of a waste as far as I'm concerned. JMHO
His sights are gone. ..
That's why it seemed odd :)
He put them on sometime since I saw it last. It is unconfortable at best

I have used them on top ejecting lever actions for additional clearance also.

Kinda held center mass on this glue tank at a 125 yard. Over the 4 wheeler to stabilize it. There is to lower hits off hand
The high scope and wind is a booger.
I'm gonna see what my gun smith buddy has for rings. I think it's nice gun and round

Visited with the local Husqvarna dealer today in Ozark. Real nice guys. Finally got the big bar for the 390 fitted with a chain. 404 semi chisel was all he had in bulk so I took it. Bar measured out to be 36 inches. Dollar an inch. :)

The bar I've got on the 390 is a Stihl, I stripped it and painted it black so the 390 wouldn't get mad at me.
