Anybody know what brand of saw this is? Saw in a box it is. My next project to put together. Looks like a LOT of new parts in the box. Cylinder I've got looks brand new and 2 new pistons. Bearings, seals, gaskets. Two air covers in the box. One says Mcculloch the other doesn't say. But two different style covers. I need to get rings for it. Only thing I can't find in a box anywhere. Well, I did find a bag of 6 rings but they won't fit in the ring grooves and, when I put one in the cylinder, the ends overlap by about .005. They won't work. Bore measures 40mm. Ring grooves measure 1.2mm. I plugged those measurements into eBay and can get a pack of ten from hutzle for about $10. My question is since I have a 1.2mm groove don't the rings I need, need to be slightly thinner or are these machined already to fit the groove. They just call them 1.2mm.
One engine cover, that says Mcculloch, gives a model number of MS40A. Cylinder has MS40 cast into it. Closest I can find in IPL's is a 4018. Which gives a part number of 9189-310801-A. I plugged that into eBay and come up with a set of Mcculloch rings but with a different part number and they don't say what the dimensions are for the rings. Plus they're more expensive as compared to the others. $18 for two vs 10 for $10. I know, $18 is not bad but I don't know the dimensions.
I know, you all are thinking "Steve, why on earth are you screwing with this thing". It's fun. I just got done assembling a Husky 51 from its atoms. And had to use atoms from other boxes of atoms to make it a complete runner.
But I had a blast doing it.

the huztl rings I used seemed to be good. I was pretty rough on them putting them on and they didn't snap lol
