I just bought another Jotul, third one, pricey but quality & damn nice!

Ok.. Dug deep enough to find the damper..
Even at full open, I just can't see this thing ever getting enough air to properly start a fire in it.

Every thing I've read on it says it's not an easy breather. It needs 15' of 6" in a straight shot to have a chance of working right. There should be a small air hole underneath the pedestal as well. If you are thinking of modifying it I'd start there.

They don't need much air, but do need a strong draft!

Stick some stove pipe on it and give it a go.

Door cracked a bit to start.
