Daughter just walked in bearing gifts. A couple of weeks ago our 3 children pooled their money and got us an appointment with a Lady that does "Life Casts" for our anniversary. It's a casting of my wife and I holding hands. Looks like it's Bronze but some kind of gypsum. Then she comes back in with a high lift Jack she picked up from a friend. Always wanted one. Now I've got to figure out how to work it. :)

Figured out the Jack. Got it to go up. Tripped the lever and it slides right down. I thought you had to Jack them down, too. Seems dangerous, if it's loaded, that it releases like that under a load.

90% of the time they need oil on them to work right. The mechanism sticks when trying to jack down.

Make sure when you flip that lever to the down position you hold on to the handle.

Got it oiled up. Works really smooth but when I trip the curved lever down, like it is now, it releases and free falls.
I must be missing something simple.
Like operator error.

Never had one fall under a load Steve. They are handy. I've got two.

The little aveo trans pan was pretty
Clean, about 60 bucks worth of fluid and filter. Worth it if it continues to shift well.

This is the truck I put a bunch of hours
On, she has the distressed look.
It rides pretty good but worthless
As a truck. It needs more power now :)

Took it out to the shop to work some more on it. Goldie said the den wasn't the place to be working on such things. (While she was saying this, I noticed 5 chainsaws around the den. I think they took great offense to her statement, as all the bars were turned toward her. ) Lubed it some more and tried it out on son's Bronco. Seems to work, going down, under a load. Didn't hint at trying to slip.
I know they are handy to have around. Seen them do some amazing things. Also have seen them whack you in the face, arms, fingers, whatever happens to be in the way at the time

They will free fall without a load. If it is free falling with a load you have a problem. Never stand in front of or lean over one while operating under a load, the handle can fly up and there goes your teeth, your nose, your jaw, your balls, and anything else that gets in the way.
