.15" ice/rain today since midnight. At least it got to 40f to melt and should only get down to 30f for the low tonight.
Got inside storage full plus 3 full totes outside the garage for easy access. Most is white oak, locust, ash, and elm. should keep us warm for most of the winter.

what are the logs for?
Something to keep me busy with all this spare time… or just test fodder for the “re-engineered” splitter when we get it done.
Got a new 8” x 10” beam to re create ole scrap iron. Going with all 3/4” hoses and no elbows.

Good morning folks. It's a bit foggy outside yet this morning and warmed up to a balmy 35f.
Sounds good until you add in the sleet that formed a nice layer of slipping ice yesterday, and it isn't really melting quite yet.

Need a chunk of piss elm? I need to count the rings on the one my parents had taken down. Two main trunks, I'm standing on the largest one. Tractor ain't going to lift it, Dad already tried.

That would be a Siberian Elm..

Bet it’s over 80 and under 100..

I’ve taken down a couple of them in yards. People planted them cuz they didn’t get Dutch elm disease. Like the reds and American elm’s..

I need a jointer..

It’s on my list now.
.

That's a cool looking counter top.👍

Jointers are really slick for taking the twist outta boards but I never found em to be great for dressing edges for glue-ups, mostly due to not long enough tables and alignment problems that seem to be fairly common.

For glue joints I like a good cabinet style table saw.... delta unisaw, powermatic 66 etc.
When I had my cabinet shop I sold hundreds of glued up solid body guitar blanks on ebay, most all of em were jointed on the PM66 table saw.

Best results were achieved with Freud's "premier fusion" 40 tooth ATB blades, typically the glue-line was completely invisible, and in my testing none ever broke on the glue joint.
I always use the full-kerf version for more blade stiffness, just gotta have a gutsy saw to power the heavier blade through the wood.
For glue, I liked just regular old Titebond wood glue, on work surfaces I would use titebond III "waterproof" glue.

I never had a buyer complain that my glue joints had failed, I take that to be good advertising for the glue anyway.

A few of my "two cents" on woodworking.....
