Was up at 4:45 anyway this morning, so I threw the cured pieces of beef bacon on the smoker.
Done by 9:30AM.
Just sliced it about an hour ago.

Was so cold and windy this morning, it was easy to smoke it at 100-125 degrees.

Somehow, I found a spot mostly out the the wind. I need to start dumping them on Matt's back porch so I don't have to clean them. But then he may throw a fit about the 5 or so 13" white bass hybrids that were released back into the lake.

Oh, you just drop those off here..

I got some old bay for em..
We were actually done by 12:15 because we didn't want to clean any more fish. Found a brush pile next to a channel drop off that fish were moving around. If the friend I had with me didn't want them, you were about to get a phone call. 28° this morning. Fog so thick I can barely see the barn 100yrds from the house.

Foggy still yet. Any one have any use for cherry roots before they become firewood? Don't know if they will have the grain pattern like walnut for knife handles or the like. Also anyone mill piss elm or have any use for it. Dad is getting ready to have a large tree dropped and I said I would ask. Probably somewhere in the 80 to 100 year range. I can only verify for 51 years, but it was large before I was born.

One of the friends carves wooden utensils from different spices. I've seen spoons and forks and she uses then mainly for cooking.

Nice thing about having random boards and a planer, is when the kids wanna have a deer processing night, and there ain’t enough cutting boards for everyone, ya just make some disposable ones..

Nice.
Yup, we usually make up few of those & just toss em on the burn pile when the carnage is over.

Evening everybody. Left Chattanooga at 5:30 this morning central time and got home at 4pm. Record time for this one. The new to me truck did wonderfully. 17-18 mpg. More importantly it passed the acid test. (It didn’t break down).
