found a lot of water damage from old. Sill joist rotted...its all coming out floor joists and all. Making a walk-in shower with a timber framed oak entry. Got a couple 8x8 oak beams I milled up last year that I need to use.... Think she's gonna use some old barn tin and cedar in there too! Should be a nice looker when its done..

Had a near death experience today. Had a service call in Memphis, MO. GPS took me off on some small back country state road ( SR 11). Four little one lane bridges on said road....one of them blind to oncoming traffic. Enough snow, hadn't been plowed, and an eighteen wheeler coming at me head on, down a hill. I was able to stop, but the big truck slid past me close enough that I could touch it. My stomach is still a little twisted, and I've had three shots of Jager to calm my nerves. Breeaathheeee......

I've only ever driven through. Never stopped.
I've spent about near 11 months there between Lackland AFB, Goodfellow AFB, Sheppard AFB, Katy TX, a week cleaning out a flooded Wal-Mart on the South end of Dallas (for a restoration company in Wichita) and various trips through Dallas on the way to Fla. Another trip (not counting the one I'm planning to go hog hunting) won't hurt. Plus I own 20 acres in Midland so there's that... Hell I should register a truck there, just 'cause.

By chance, would there be any opportunity to make off with some fresh Mesquite at this cut?

Glad you're ok! You weren't far from my home town (La Plata). You probably drove right past it. Cook's men's store there in Memphis is the only place back home that carries large sized boots. They also have super large sized pants and shirts too. They used to have a huge pair of coveralls hanging up. I swear you could have fit a small car inside them. If you ever need anything when you are up that way, just let me know. I have family all close to that area.

Was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a GTG here at my place during crawfish season this year (now till June)? We are in between Beaumont and Houston. Bout an hour and a half from the LA. line.

Morning gentlemen! Coffee tastes good this morning. I feel like I didn't sleep at all even though I actually think I slept pretty good. I'm sure the day will go by quickly and I can try the whole sleep thing again. Have a great day!

Afternoon everybody. Just got back from Sam's parent teacher conference. All is well other than he has a little trouble sitting still, but what boy doesn't, not very many that I know of. I will resume on the hickory and oak tomorrow since I am off. Sam and Isaac are out of school too so they are in for a long day.

Howdy Thomas. My current project is a tiny little Skil branded, Partner 1616 that my Dad pulled out of an old garage, handed it to me and said "you think you can get this thing running?". He wants to use it to trim limbs from cedar trees. I have it torn down, cleaned, and just finished rebuilding the carb. Need to stop in to the saw shop tomorrow for a length of fuel line and a filter. Then cross my fingers that I can get the tiny little bugger back together.

Yep, never seen a boy yet that will sit still, for anything.
On another note. After the road trip this last weekend, Mama's truck developed a rattle/knock in the front end. I already knew it needed an idler arm, but took it up to have my son and I look at it where he works. (Ford) Passenger side upper ball joint and drivers side lower ball joint. Loose as a goose.
In doing some pre-pricing checks around earlier this week I knew the uppers only come as a control arm assembly. Aftermarket available everywhere. Lower aftermarket will not fit original lower control arms. So I'd have to get new lower control arm assemblies if I went with aftermarket stuff. $250.00+ per lower control arm. $50.00+ per upper control arm assembly. Fortunately I got my son's discount on O.E. parts. 2 individual lower ball joints and 2 upper assemblies for $280.00 out the door.
