Good lookin saw there, Carl.
What the secret to your dip?

O'Reilleys foaming engine degreaser. Scrub with mineral spirits and dig out the goo first. Follow up with a jet of warm water from the laundry room hose.

Use the end of the driveway or the chunks will be imbedded in the concrete.

All time dirty saw was a Mac 10-10. Filled a '2 lb' coffee can with the goo inside it.[emoji15]

I cleaned up an old XL12 once. Pulled off the recoil housing couldn't see the engine or cooling fins. Amazingly the piston/cylinder was still good. Turned into a nice runner.

Do you worry about getting water in the piston and cylinder or crank case? Or is the saw disassembled when you clean it?

Usually sandwich Baggie the carb and plug the muffler outlet. Two with rubber bands.

Run him as soon as possible after or continue disassembly.

Keeps a ton of crap off the workbench.

Geez Carl. Thing looks like a new one.
You sure it's not brand new?

My best guess is someone split the fuel tank neck early in its life.

May have throwed a chain once.

Got the replacement tank from Jim.

Air filter on order.
