No, your math is right.

The fact a local processor charges $120 per 65 lb carcass is horse *s-word...

If they have to, then so be it.. but they are doing it wrong. And I’ll not participate in their stupid game...
I will give you $5 for each back strap/tenderloin if it helps you. The one we ate was top shelf!!!

Lamb is very good..

That’s why I buy the spendy little buggers..

But after the recent “price adjustments”, I’m out,.

Beef, pork, and venison from here on out..

No...

Range maggots stay somewhere else..

We’re beef people.
Mixed species grazing is generally l good for pastures from what I've heard..... though sheep are a pain to keep in cattle grade fences sometimes I guess.
I don't have much experience with sheep, but the little I have was mostly positive.
In Oregon we raised goats and chickens on the same 2 acres of pasture, and it turned into the most beautiful thick cover I've ever seen, though it would have benefited from one cow to eat the clover because the goats wouldn't touch it.

Gentlemen,

I admit I haven’t purchased a new bar in many years (7-10yrs) estimated

What is a good quality, cost effective bar?

Requirements:

Large mount Stihl
20” 3/8 .050 roller tip

Google shows lots of choices, some I haven’t heard of obviously since I have been out of the market for so long.

Your firsthand experience and recommendation is appreciated.

Are the tsumura and sugihara bars still easy to get?
I never hear anyone speak I’ll of them.
And they “used to be” easy to get, and well south of the cost of the stihl ES Light bars.

I have purchase 3 Tsumura bars in the last couple of years. All have been working fine. They are all light bars as i need all the help i can get to run saws anymore. I'm sure I have a lightly used 20" Stihl bar in my little shop at the cabin. Will be able to check for sure next weekend. It is yours for the shipping if you want it.

Last nights adventure..
This little fella and his mama was in a bad way.
He was oversized and backwards..

But we were able to get him pulled out and to our surprise, he was still alive and blinking..

So after a little slapping and rolling around, we got him breathing.. then mama came to life and tried to kill John.. Lol..

But good to go this morning..

I've been running a few tsumura bars for a couple years now with no issues. I have a sugihara but haven't ran it yet so no practical input on those.

When I'm being practical I just buy Oregon versacut bars, they are under 50 bucks a pop online and they are at least as light as the sugi or tsumura bars, so far I have no complaints about the quality/ durability of the versacut bars.

Thankfully I've never had to pull a calf..... sounds like an adventure.

Glad he made it!

The tsumara are good bars, I have a couple of them. I believe @MG2186 sells them.

I have several GB bars & they are good quality & seem to wear good but they are heavy buggers.

Any new bars I buy will be of the Tsumara variety, LW or standard.
