Yes.Long Colt...
But don’t shoot those loads out of a “colt” pistol,,
Only Ruger.
Agreed..
Nothing like a 325 grain chunk of lead moving at 1250 FPS to get a critters attention.
I wonder if the Henry rifles that are chambered in 45 long colt can handle the “high pressure” hand loads?
Yes.
I could never find anything from Henry stating wether or not their rifles could handle high pressure loads..
So far mine seems to like em fine, but I haven't shot it a whole lot.
In my opinion, if a guy wants power you're probably better off to stick with the .44 because the guns have to be designed for the pressure, plus there's no chance of blowing up a weak revolver by grabbing the wrong loads.
I have the 45 Long Colt just because I really like the old cartridges.
Yeah, I've seen em..... pretty much worthless in the real world but no doubt lots of fun at the range! If you want to go the other way some nutty manufactures have made a revolver for a 30-30 cartridge.

I thought about getting the 45-70 version of one of those......just because pain....
Probably my next revolver..There is a company that make a lever action in 460 smith magnum. Same as my revolver. And it will down shoot 454 casull and 45 long colt. It’s just kinda spendy.
Was it regular factory load (trap door) ammo?Member here Deets has one.
Revolver.
I’ve shot it..
Recoil totally manageable..
A member at the range long ago had a 45-70 built onna 1898 Mauser action. Very impressive PUSH up off the bench w/350 gr bullet. I declined the op to try a load w/500 gr projectileWas it regular factory load (trap door) ammo?
There's a lot of variation in loads for the 45-70
I've got a couple rifles that qualify for the Ruger number 1 only loads, definitely not something I'd want to shoot outta a handgun.
Good morning everyone and Amen!Happy Friday!
Let’s make a difference.
Factory loads I believe..Was it regular factory load (trap door) ammo?
