Morning all. Helped send off some family friends yesterday. This family of 7 sold everything and are heading to Honduras to run an orphanage. There were over a 100 other folks there to celebrate with them too. I think it was way beyond what they expected. Have a great day everybody and remember to do something nice for someone else. Even if it is just a small thing you never know what the impact will be.

We don’t have any persimmon around here. What kind of drying time is needed to get down to 20% or so ???
Persimmon is real high on the BTU chart.
Usually grows in little patches and normally straight little poles.
It don’t get very big that I’ve seen.
Dense wood, needs as much time to dry as possible, like oak would.
It should have a little black in the center. I guess it’s a member of the ebony tree family.

I saw a lot

We had a hard frost last night, it hit 26*. No lilacs this year, lots of new seeding alfalfa is going to take a hard hit as well as several hundred acres of soybeans.

28 for the low here. Currently 33.

Morning fellas. Gona be another beautiful NW Kansas day today. Mid 60's and no wind. Perfect day to go to the farm and engage in some 2A therapy. Then we have a 90% chance of rain the next 3 days, which means we won't get anything. Lol

Enjoy your Sunday's Gentlemen.

A friend of mine made cutting boards with Persimmon for all his friends one year as Christmas gifts. The glue let go on every one of them. Must need special glue for it.

Good firewood; it's yellow, like other very good firewood. Never smoked with it, never would either. Not sure about drying time, probably like other normal wood, in the 1-2 year range depending on conditions
Why not smoke with it? Just because 60 years ago and more it was the choice for golf .drivers heads shouldn't effect the flavoring on bbq

That’s why I was so surprised you all were planting beans so early.. We were even fretting over the wheat this morning..

Participated in another large two County search for a local young mother of two today. Spent most of the time in State land and woods. All I found was these devils like this one on my tick tweezers. Pulled 7 so far.D55EAAA6-ACDC-4D6F-ABD0-CFB102A31AB6.jpeg
