Today my dear friend and firewood partner, Lefty, was laid to rest at Omaha National Cemetary with full military honors. One of his dear friends made one last gift for him that I would like to share. He owns a sawmill and the love he put into this gift just glows in the craftmanship. The last picture is with Bunny, Lefty's wife and Dan who made the urn.

I miss you dear friend and thank you Dan for his gift.

Thank you @Hinerman and @WoodAbuser for your support. He is greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him. Thought I should share his urn with all the work Dad put into it. He studied every piece before choosing what wood to use, and hate to think how many hours putting it together.

I want that!
Sure would beat my 25hp Kubota tractor....
My nephew Ethan got it cheap. It needed a new main hydro pump..
$20,000 later, he got to pay another $7000 to get it up here from TX..
at 105,000 lbs, it takes a special rig to get it legal,

Ouch! those big machines can get real expensive in a hurry.
Maybe I better stick with my toy Kubota for now...

Thomas can’t wait to come visit.

They are very handy. Is he going to add a thumb to the bucket ?

With that 20k counter balance he can add a long reach boom & clean out ponds & stuff.
Thumb, yes..

Surprisingly, they don’t burn as much diesel as you’d think.
They only run about 1500-1600 RPM

Probably why they get 15-20 k hours out of a motor.

That’s great if it doesn’t burn as much, maybe its Volvo thing. All the larger Deeres ( 690 ) & Cats I have been in/around seemed to be fuel hogs or that is how it seemed. I could be mistaken.

Hey guys, there's a bit of persimmon on this salvage job, do I want it?
It's not big enough for lumber....
Is it good firewood? smoking wood? or just compost.
Good firewood; it's yellow, like other very good firewood. Never smoked with it, never would either. Not sure about drying time, probably like other normal wood, in the 1-2 year range depending on conditions
