C-83 is my favorite chain..

Chassis is better than stihl, and the cutters are very well thought out..

I would like to try it, but I can't get it around here. I stopped buying Stihl chain due to price. I buy all Oregon chain from Mike Gott now. He has the latest Oregon chain and fair prices.

No..

Similar cutter design, but look at the chassis sometime.. then look where they’re made..
Lol..

I can't look at what I can't see; but, I probably couldn't tell the difference anyway. There is no distinction on the Husqvarna website. Maybe they have changed the cutter design, chassis, and point of Mfg. at some point, but just called it the same thing. Maybe it is made in 2 different places with 2 different designs, but still called the same thing. Who knows? Interesting though

Well in that case I lied......

But......

https://www.husqvarna.com/us/chains/x-cut-c83/

https://www.husqvarna.com/us/chains/x-cut-c85/

No argument intended, if I'm mistaken please help me to understand.

I thought the difference between c-83 and c-85 was just the gauge with c83 being .050 and c-85 being .058
The x-cut term refers to the style of grind I believe..
Oregon and Husqvarna share that IIRC..
This was over a year ago though, and things could have changed.

Yeah, who knows....they are always changing stuff....keeps us guessing...

Oregon's current chain is called "Power cut"
I think x-cut is only a husky thing.

Good evening y'all. It's been a dreary day here. I have an old 041 around here somewhere. I'm not sure that it has the proper screws on the pullstart. It's vibrated them out twice now. Cool old saw though. I have a 056 too, what a beast!

If I recall there were 4 models of the 056. Which one do you have?

Newest family member 2.0 eager beaver
Just needs some carb work

20 years ago, I brought home an eager beaver. Unfortunately, it was a bit too eager of a beaver and would share itself with whoever it wanted, while I was at work. I got rid of that eager beaver.

That eager beaver didn't need any carb work, but it did need some work in the commitment department.

Well hopefully I won't have that problem with this one

Mine just says 056 AV. I'll take a few pics tomorrow. There's a guy in Dwight KS that has a few for sale. One with compression, the other without. It's a 2 hour drive for me so not worth the hassle.
