Looks like it maxed it out..

How wide can you go?
That one was 40" on the fat end...

As far as slabs go, I can only go up to 26" wide.

This Mill has a 36" official capacity.....but I've sawed a 90" diameter log on this size mill before.....just had to quarter the log with a chainsaw first..... normally anything under 42" just gets the corner notched out so I can cut it with the mill, while stuff over 42" gets free- hand ripped with the chainsaw to make it fit on the mill.

It took us 4 hours to saw that beast up today.....with the help of the man's 955 Cat track loader...

Evening everybody....hope y'all had a good day.
We cut up a couple more big logs today.
All day long to cut two logs......about 1300 bf between the two of em.

I'm thinking I must be nuts doing this stuff with a non-hydraulic mill....

Those must be Kansas logs! Too big for Missouri!

And yes hydraulics would be great for that!
6 years ago 10 foot white oak log showed up in yard waste dump. Stump was 42" x 38" about 35" diameter topside. If I had a trailer etc. it wood have gone up to stave making company near I44 mid state. They buy only clear off stump @ $ 1 bf, IIRC. I still have 3 slabs 26 3/4" wide x 2 3/4 thick split the pith on one pair lol
Chainsaw milling, for fun n profit
That was the last year the city burned the wood, brush and branches

I am debating if this log would be a good saw log. Lots of twist at the base.
Maybe....my rule of thumb is, any visible defect on the outside of a log will probably be worse inside...
Twist can be anywhere from not a problem, to total garbage lumber.

I always tell people, "good logs usually make good lumber, and bad logs usually don't".

Came South for Grand daughter’s Cross Country meet. So while in Hermann I had to get some of the good stuff!
