Sounds like the ingredients for a really muggy day there.
It's 90 here and brewing up some rain for tomorrow, so it's pretty miserable outside.
We're mending hog fence today.... way too hot for such behavior!

Humidity is only at 19%, but heat index is 104. We are pretty dry out here, even when it isn't a summer like a lot of the midwest has had. 50-60% is a pretty humid day out here.

Yeah, I would be struggling fixing fence on a day like today. Hopefully, there's some AC in the near future for ya.

I picked up a couple more saws yesterday. [emoji849] Sad thing is that I don't have many in the bunch that I have any interest in other than they are chainsaws. They are in the process of going to new homes.

There were a couple of items that I didn't load up. The pair come with an enclosed trailer in the deal. The owner said the smaller one would put out 100+ HP. Both are alcohol burners.

A John Deere Echo and a banana handle Power Mac 6 (scarce variation).

A person new to saw collecting would have a nice start tinkering them old devils.
The 70V runs good. Not sure about the little Mac.

Got the hogs contained....
A friend loaned us his boar, so we had to get the fence reinforced, and electrified!
I think we hit it just right, seems to be a whole lotta hormones goin' on in there.....
Now it's time to take the rest of the day off, (in the AC!)

The old timers around here used to say load the sows up & haul them around the section a time or time before turning the boars in. Dad never subscribed to that theory but I did it a couple times it seemed to work.

The sows are supposed to be Yorkshires, but idk... the boar is a registered Berkshire.

It's all bacon to me...
I questioned whether it was a Berk or not, the ones I have seen usually have a shorter snout & a bit of yellowish orange on them.

The shorter snout usually didn’t help them around here, most folks thought they had rhinitis & so they didn’t sell well.

I don't really care for the berks over much, but it was free stud service, so I ain't going to complain.
The guy that loaned us the boar just went up to north Iowa and bought a replacement boar for around $2k, that's way more than I can imagine ever paying for a hog, but he's trying to get into a pork snob market, so I guess it will be worth it if everything works out.
We have a bunch of the American Guinea hogs, and a few Kune Kune, the little fat pigs have much better temperaments than the full size monster hogs, but feed conversation is pretty poor on the small breeds, so we're raising some of both.

When I was a kid Dad used to go to northern Iowa to buy boars & occasionally some guilts. I believe we went to Webster City, Mason City & Clear Lake.

I bought a few Spotted sows & boars from one local fella & some Durocs from another. I always wanted to get some Poland Chinas but that never materialized.

That’s right up the road from me about 25 miles, in my opinion that’s a pretty good price for what you are getting. Although I would imagine that saw has been doing some milling. Too bad I don’t have $1800 burning a hole in my pocket. Maybe they will trade for hay or hedge posts…
Dang, I wish I could get somebody around here to trade hay for some of my extra saws!
When I ask folks around here if they'd sell me a bit of hay they act like I'm a criminal or something.

Y'all must be pretty far west in KS.... I envy the lower humidity... muggy weather sucks!
This is only our second summer here....being from the PNW we didn't even know what humidity was! and it's pretty dry here compared to a lot of places in the US.

Those tusks would have to go if that fella was on our farm.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the tusks either, but since he's on loan I probably better not knock them out, lol.
The Poland China sound like good hogs.
One of my main things with pigs is litter size and survivability, the more prolific a sow is the lower my cost for bacon.
Red waddle are supposed to produce 12 to 15 per litter, and grow fast and large, but I haven't been able to find any for a price I was willing to pay.
