Afternoon gents.

Got a bit irritated this afternoon. Bought a chopper 1 head off the bay. Then bought a handle from a local farm store. 5th swing and broke a chunk off of it. Had to finish splitting with the trusted x27.

Anyone ever seen this or had this happen?

Bucked up the pecan and went to the stump with 660 and 36" bar. Halfway through the cut the saw revved up like crazy, got another bite and same thing. Ruh Roh. Pulled the bar out and my chain was wrecked. :BangHead:

I wonder what is in the middle of that tree, I will never know because I am done.

Good morning.

Not a quitter, just regrouped and came up with another solution.

Here is the deal. The job is a non-paying job. The lady wanted a slice of the stump to make a table so I was doing it out of the kindness of my heart. So, I left her a slice from another piece.

Yes, full skip, and 103 dl's IIRC. It is not the sharpening I mind, it is losing 1/4 or more of my cutter to fix it; and, I had the chain cutting very nice, which is a challenge for me sometimes, especially on the longer bars. It seems you can get away with a not so perfect chain on a 16" bar, not so much on 36". If a 36" chain is off, it chatters harder; and, it if it starts to turn your cut ends up like a crescent moon by the time you go through a 36" log.

Also, I have to order these chains from Madsens because Stihl does not carry 3/8, .063, full skip, in full chisel; they only carry it in square.

Dad had one like this that I learned on. It work on Hedge sometimes, Oak, Ash and Maple most of the time. I built a lot of muscle swinging that maul.

BT, DT. There's nothing like having a good cutting chain destroyed in a second by FOD. Plus, up until recently, all of my chains were full comp, including my 36" loops... Even with a Granberg, that blows.

For Chad and everyne els who might dig this, this was an awesome video!

Got to watch the discus finals..

Piotre malakowski was favorite..
But a big, younger brother of Robert Harting, Christof Harting, stepped up and took gold.
I been watching him for 2 years.. Just a matter of time before he worked his way to the top.
He's 6'9"..
