Took a course in I C engines at Rolla circa 1965.

Along came all the bull chit emission crap early ‘70s.

I’m like WTF? Burn more fuel to reduce parts per million. Just put out more parts entirely they did.

One point in compression ratio in the 8-10:1 range was good for an increase in brake thermal efficiency of 7-8% per point.

EGR further reduced efficiency. Retard timing further reduced mileage.

Had a guy tell me yrs ago when he lived in comiefornia that he had a 66 impala restoration fresh 327 was putting out less emissions than his new 2000 Buick

Worked on the van a little more this evening.
Cut out the DPF and got a piece of pipe welded in its place.
Got the fuel lines reinstalled, battery cable rerouted, driveline hooked up, and shift cable reinstalled.
I hear that our weather is supposed to go down hill tomorrow, so glad to get a little more done while it is nice.

They are in Michigan.
May have been able to make a deal if I could have drove to their shop.
I went with Malone instead. I am not sure how they get around the feds. It is stated as an offroad-only tune, but I thought that my other tunes said that as well.
