My father worked for Manitowoc several years as a field service mechanic before he retired. Big cranes that had the counterweights resting on track when unloaded. He covered south east states.
Those counterweights were stamped at 12 ton each! I looked it up and a Model 18000 can lift 750 tons. There were a lot of ties under that thing.

Woohoo. Did more checking on the project truck last night. Previous owner didn't think the rear fuel tank worked because it didn't register on the gauge and the engine wouldn't run when switched to that tank.
The tank was empty. Dumped 8 gallons into it. Gauge reads it, engine runs on it.
Got it inspected yesterday, try to get license plates tonight. Start driving this pup.

Started the 048 last night and it fell on its face in a cut. Smoke rolling out and died. I discovered I had the high side out two turns. Yikes!
Returned it to one turn out this noon and he runs and cuts like some animal.[emoji106]
On C'list he goes.

No more vintage Stihl for me. I learned my lesson.

finally got to a craftsman 2.1 ive had for couple years; says its a 2.1 but has auto oiler which works. just finished cleaning up the saw. it had likely never been cleaned. some of the cake was hard. no gaps anywhere except where moving parts are. doesn't look new but looks happier.
cleaned, filed, and gapped points, rebuilt carb, and installed new fuel lines and plugs. coil tested "open" but was able to get one from a helpful AS member. started this thing but it stutters at WOT. had this same problem with a C5 that was cured with a "new" coil. anything else yall can think of?

Recheck points gap Jerry. Plug wire pinched. If I remember right it has to snake around the top cylinder fins.
