While on the subject of wire rope:
If you have a length in service getting a little ‘furry’ with broken wires, please replace it before you kill someone.
Fellow in Tennessee(IDR) built an elevator in his house. Ran the rope over exceedingly small sheaves for the size.
It killed his wife when the rope broke. Head and one arm part of her torso was on the top floor. Rest was in the elevator in the basement.
