LOL, there is no comparison other than the fact I don’t get the appeal of either one; but yes, to each their own. If a person wants to spin around with a steel ball on the end of a line, or swim dance in synchronization with their friends, more power to them.

I envision an 8# w/12-16” wood handle.

I researched the origins of the hammer throw. Apparently, a blacksmith hammer was used at one time; but the sport has evolved. The earliest known form of the event dates back to 1829 BC!!!

I think a couple drunk viking blacksmiths must have got into an argument and decided to settle it by throwing their hammers, the rest is history.
