A guy I work with had one hell of a VW motor built in St Louis a couple years back. Spins the 31 10.50 on his buggy with ease.
Prolly built 1900 telegraph rd, by Jim Trunko or the other builder. Jim machined cases & such in 1973 at the buggy shop, owned by his brother w ith partner (s). He wasn't old enough to drive just then. Buggy shop passed away & Jim kept on for the last 47 years. That's why he is putting the finishing touches on a 1641 short block for me, once the other pieces are scattered together by me.

Was he out in Lindbergh near Melville about 1965?

Different place then. Buggy shop was between Lindbergh & 4 lane 21, on what was 21
Or it's concord village rd. now
