Deputy Hardin reports there are cars under water in the Starbucks parking lot on city route 29.

All the asphalt out there drains off fast.

Finally got the head off the 89 F150. Found it had zero compression on #2 cylinder, hence taking the head off. Suspected exhaust valve problem. Found bent pushrod and bent valve. So far, no other damage found. Piston crown looks good, no marks or cracks. Haven't found a cause., but I suspect someone has been in it before. Maybe dropped a small nut and didn't see it. If it was a carburated engine, I could see dropping a nut in while it was running, but it's fuel injected. Much harder to ingest a nut.

I ran a rank of rotten gas thru my fresh Desoto engine in my '53 Ford 1/2 ton. After 1/4-1/2 tank of that chit I had numerous bent pushrods and valves. Seems the varnish seized all the valve stems.

Had a radiator shop boil out the gas tank an patch the holes on it. Next thing is the carb filled up with rust fines a I had to idle home 15 miles. Installed a sediment bowl fuel filter and cleaned it every hundred miles or so.

Removed the offending valve. Found a slight spalling on the stem. Could be why it hung open. Guide is still good though. Pushrod $2. Valve $8. Had thought about just getting the basics to put it back together. But for $30 difference I'll go ahead and pull the other head and replace all the top end gaskets.

My mom will be 70 this year. Her and my stepfather just bought their first house (rented their whole life) and have been moving. She doesn't move to well so is not much help in the moving process. Anyhow, moving is a PITA, and she has trouble getting rid of stuff she doesn't need or use, compounding the problem. She likes to read but doesn't want to get rid of the books she read decades ago; try moving a truck load of books. That is what I have been doing today, then did my yard work when I got home.
