Have a cant hook that someone put a hedge handle in. It's lasted a long time for sure. Keep it oiled good.

What do you oil it with? Teak oil?

I have luck with boiled linseed oil. Trying some Danish oil on my fancier axes. Doesn't darken em as much.

If you are going to be building anything serious, then you should probably invest in a moisture meter.

I picked up a combination pin and pinless to do a water damage inspection on a travel trailer the other day. It's. interesting to see the difference between wood that has been split and stacked for a while versus unsplit rounds in the pile from the same tree.

In my experience with a healthy live tree, it will be stable like red cedar. Doesn't move (except the 5/4 closest to bark) have a 7/4 slab that has leaned against the telephone pole for 4 years. As flat as ever

This is why other options are available thru trading posts & the like. My 661c came ported w/shipping for $167 less than new one. I had to run another 11-12 tanks to break it in
If 60cc is enough I've got a Mac 610 for $100 + shipping ran yesterday on a splash into carb

Race Brothers in Spfd is a Husky dealer as well as Loftis Small engine on Ozark. Loftis guys are really good to deal with. Both of them also are dealers of the dark side.
