Most people need to learn what grease zerks are for and how often to grease them.
Tammi's Tahoe has over 250K on it with all of the original steering and suspension parts and the factory alignment knockouts still in it.
I've found dirt to be the enemy of said parts..
If ya like to get muddy or live on a gravel road, nothing lasts.
Lube and keep reasonably clean? Lasts a looong time..

Excepting the first eight years, Old Blue has led a pampered life.

Previously parked on the street and driven rain, shine or snow, he rests in the garage.

I don’t remember replacing any suspension components except a broken rear leaf spring.

The steering box is on the loose side. [emoji848] Sector shaft bushings have play.

HA. What model is the Tahoe? I thought grease zerks were non-existent anymore. The manufacturer doesn't want us greasing anything; otherwise, how would it wear out and need to be replaced.

One has to consider the source of this statement...LOL

Can't disagree with you here. The older ones were simpler, not better. For some people though, simpler is better, so it depends on your perspective.
I like simpler:sisi3:1970 vdub bus for example or seat swap20200804_083359.jpgleft in place of 1 on right. Mechanic has customer who finds repair too expensive, so a donor for what mine can use:clap:
:campeon:HAPPY B'day Kyle!!

The problem is, really, lack of maintenance.
Years ago, while I was in a meeting about parts sales, the speaker said this.
The majority of car owners know this much about their vehicles.
1. Gas goes in the tank.
2. Key goes in the ignition.
3. Drive it till it drops.

I used to work in a shop and being a tightwad, I've always worked on my own stuff, and it always amazed me how many people wouldn't notice a simple difference in sound or driving characteristics of a vehicle. It seemed like, most would only notice something if it was a major issue that couldn't not be noticed. It was kind of a shock to see how bad people let things get, and even more of a shock when I would see how fast they drove the vehicle, while it was like that.

Happy birthday Mr. Kyle!
