My grandson and I visited the J M Davis Gun Museum while we were in Claremore. A person needs a full day to really check it out. It has over 12,000 firearms on display.

School of the Ozarks (IDK what it’s called now) had an enormous gun collection. Not far from you and Steve P.

It was when the kids were seven and ten we visited the place. So thirty some years.
Yep, but now it's called College of the Ozarks. I've been there several times. To say they have a collection of guns would be an understatement.
They also have the truck from The Beverly Hillbillies TV show.
:)

I've got an Aunt and Uncle that went there back in the late 50's. Back then local schooling stopped with the 8th grade. If parents wanted their children to get a High School diploma, they had to go to School of the Ozarks. Those who couldn't afford tuition, which was everybody, the students worked at the school. My Aunt worked in the sewing department. My Uncle worked in the carpentry department. They have a dairy farm, beef cattle operation, grow vegetables, cut and bale hay, whatever they needed to supply the school was made by the students.
Still is.

And, they have to attend Church every Sunday.

Looking at upgrading my skidsteer. Anybody got any experience with these? 2011 cat 299C. Only thing I’m not sure I’ll like is electronic joystick vs the old pilot controls.

Don’t you have a Gehl now or was at someone else that shared that? I have never ran a Cat, just Deere, Kubota & BobCat. The Kubota door opens by sliding back over your head which is nice because you don’t have to worry about it hitting an attachment & shattering & you can get out with the arms elevated, that’s damn near impossible on a Deere or BobCat. The Deere comes standard with a reversing fan it was optional on the Kubota. I can’t say about the BobCat. I prefer the Kubota & Deere’s to the BobCat. All three I have run are in the 90-100hp bracket. S770 Bobcat, 333E Deere & SVL 95. The Deere is the only one taking DEF. The Deere has no foot pedals, BobCat can go both ways & I believe that Kubota could also. Just some small puddly things to think about or compare it to.

I take care of a fleet of Cat’s. Tracked and tires. The 299 is a hoss. Not bad to work on and fairly simple. Haven’t had any control issues in the 1500 or so hours it’s got on it, it’s a 299D. A few blown hoses and one of the drive motors broke a swash plate. I rebuilt that drive motor with about $300 in parts and it’s been going strong ever since. I have access to all things Cat, unless it’s really high hours or there’s something that jumps out at you I wouldn’t be afraid of it. In regards to the door, you’ll have to be boomed all the way down or up to get out. Midway up you can’t open the door to get out. If it’s a high flow machine and has been running a mulching head or some other high demand hydraulic attachment I’d be leery of them. About 2,000 hours of high flow use wipes out the pump.

It’s a standard flow machine 4500 hrs. I’d like to run a hyd brush cutter on it but am not sure if the 23 gpm will be enough. I’d like to find a high flow. Have you had any trouble with the def in the 299D?

This 299D was before DEF thankfully. 23 gpm might be slow but would run a brush hog style but not a big mulcher. Specs for the brush cutter should say what their minimum flow requirements are. Any service history on the machine? 4500 hours is a fair amount.

Yes. Looks like it’s been serviced at cat every 250. Only major thing I saw was head gasket last April. Speed sensor and a fan wiring harness.

That’s a good sign that it went to the dealer and it was done every 250. Should be in good shape.

He REALLY enjoyed it. It is awe-inspiring! We saw some of those Mauser's like the pile that you had in my shop. They have guns that belonged to famous outlaws and criminals. They've got a lot more than guns also. There is a display wall with nooses and execution hoods with descriptions of who was hanged by them and and the stories of what led them to be hanged. You need to go but plan on taking most of the day to go through it.

Had to take Teddy Bear (Barbara’s pooch) to the vet yesterday afternoon. Evidence was a pile of chewed paper under the dining room table. Investigated it and determined he had eaten a package of rat poison Sarah had placed in a flower pot in the bay window. [emoji90]

We have an ongoing mouse problem. [emoji19]

Dropped what I was doing and rushed him to the veterinary clinic that takes ‘walk ins’.

The poison causes internal bleeding/low red blood count.

The next 24-48 hours of vitamin K will tell.

My sons beagle got into some a few years ago, it was vitamin K or about $2k for blood transfusions. It was vitamin K or bust. K worked great, I didn’t notice until a day or so later when she was acting lethargic & not looking well. Hope it works well for you.

The old truck driver and his wife that lived in this house when i bought it smoked 3 pack a day...

Look at cigarette smoke stain on ceiling...

Folks don't smoke, I have never even tried one , not a puff.

That Kilz 2 really works well
