Morning midlanders!

Will soon be able to compare the 266se side by side to the J’red 630. 630 departed KCK at 4:25 am. [emoji322][emoji322][emoji322]

Hopefully the USPS sent it on to River City instead of Huston or some such. [emoji57]

My new Walmart attire:

I grit my teeth every time I have to go in the place. So many walmartians.

Hunted thru Blondie's drawers for a big red or blue bandana and found the scarf.

Turned 90 degrees:

Versatile eh.

Fortune struck. Babysitter for Barbara and the J'red 630 showed up on my porch at the same time. So, I was able to unbox the saw and get it running without interruption.

Touched up the chain and cut what fragments of test log left to get the carb adjusted.

Give him 'the dip' and overhaul the starter next.

Going to try to fire up the vet in the morning. It hasn't run in seven years. SIL volunteered to change out the battery.

The only problem I've had with my gas engines is the fact that I always seem to have too small of one for my needs. My 89 had a nice running 302 and did a decent job pulling the camper, until I took it to Branson. I was lucky to get to the top of those hills doing 30 mph.
However, the GTG van is another story. Those same hills don't really seem to faze that old girl. It's a 351W. You'd think it was a 460, the way it pulls. And it feels like a 460 when I pull up to a gas pump. Unloaded seems to be a consistent 12-13 mpg. Pulling the camper it drops to 8. That's probably why it's got a 36 gallon tank.

And that is where the diesel shines. Same load could get over 20mpg with the right truck combo.

The only problem with a diesel is I wouldn't drive it enough to really justify having it.
I know they are a lot tougher engine and all, but when one needs working on, they can be very expensive compared to a gas.

I do a lot of talking around, investigating, and researching when I'm interested in doing something or getting something. It's a fault of mine. I'm a Ford guy through and through. I've looked at all the diesels they've had through the years and, I'll agree, the 7.3 powerstroke diesel is by far the best they made. Possibly with the exception of the newest 6.7. But they are horribly expensive when it comes to parts that WILL eventually wear out.
A 7.3 IDI injector runs about $50, give or take. The PS 7.3 injector runs about $400. And there's 8 of them. I just can't do repairs like that.
