Hi Brandon. Good to hear from you.
Are you taking good care of that John Deere saw for me? [emoji4]

Well, you see... not so much on the John Deere. A garage fire back in 2014 pretty much wiped out my entire collection of saws. I had all of my prizes on upper shelves, junkers on the floor. So when it was said & done, the prized ones melted & or burnt up, and the junk pile was almost unscathed. Who'd have thunk that heat rises? Another lesson learned that day: No more plastic trash cans in the garage!

Oh my! A pristine John Deere 66SV twin meets a tragic fate!
Hope you were OK other than the saws.

Morning midlanders!!

Evilbay seller refunded my money on the “028” oil pump gears. [emoji106]

Only problem left is the choke won’t stay set with the new air filter. [emoji90]

I had a 028 the other day the choke would not stay set. New air filter. I swapped the choke out of a old filter. Fixed it. Both were oem.

Went back to Jack Horners and John showed me where to grind back the AF choke lever so it would work.

Fixed! [emoji16]

Use a Farmertec MS390 engine in those. [emoji106] Ditch the Stihl self tapping screws and use the 6mm machine screws provided.

Thank me later.

[emoji16]

That’s my plan. Ordered a 390 setup for the 310 and a complete bottom end for the 290.

Look carefully at the cam part of the new filter choke flap and one can see where they added material to the original mold. Dremel it back to that mold seam.

John told me Stihl had put out a bulletin to that effect.

They run even better without an air filter at all..
