I’ll lose the nail before I do any drilling

That sounds better than drilling but it’s still a no go for me...

Same here! I will suffer through, and let it fall off before I drill or run a hot needle through any of my fingernails. I guess I've never had a smashed finger hurt to enough to make me want to try either of those options.

If you ever have one smashed bad enough the throbbing won’t quit until you get the pressure off it. And believe me it feels a whole lot better.

I've lost several fingernails, and actually my left hand ring finger, fingernail, has never grown back out all the way after 20 years (I'm a nail chewer though) so I've had some bad ones, just never tried it, but a ton of people have said what y'all are saying. Mr. Hinerman is one of the few people I've seen who doesn't want to do it either, so we are the minority for sure. :-)

Razor blade on an angle. [emoji108]

Drill, hot needle etc. has “oops too far” danger. [emoji90]

I haven’t tried a Dremel w/burr yet. [emoji848]

I’ve done both and if u can get past the smell the hot needle is easier.

Just get a brand new 1/16” drill bit & spin it with your fingers. No power tools required. It’s painless, safety glasses or goggles may be required, depends on how much pressure is under there.

Got 4 saws to fix in shop .

MS290

Husqvarna 41

Shindaiwa 448

Shindaiwa 377

290 was a electric coop service man's saw , literally the nastiest saw and never used , hauled is dust in bin , got it running perfectly, bar a little rough from rust.

41 is a poulan built saw I believe, gas line bad,

448 has bad coil , company son works for gave them to him as no one would work on them, I'm keeping 448 and fixing 377 for him to keep , 377 has epa carb , guy on this site gave me a adjustable carb free..

I'll have 2-488 saws , best saw I ever had
