Good morning, gentlemen! Happy Thanksgiving one day late.
We had an older couple visit us for dinner yesterday, and it was a really enjoyable time, though the preparatory time is always busy with cleaning up the house. Nothing like company coming to get one in gear. Smoked turkey was excellent, and my stepson came over. He is 21, and more and more of a grown man each time i see him. Emerson was overjoyed to see his big brother, I'd never seen anything like it. Warmed my heart of stone to see it.

Also had a Smithfield ham, because the turkey brine had ingredients interfering with dietary limitations of one of our guests. I insisted on breaking it out once I figured out my error, because if someone is willing to make changes in order to be healthy, I will honor that if I can. I felt good about having been a considerate host in that respect. Now we have turkey, ham, taters, the obligate green bean casserole, some cranberry concoction I can actually manage to choke down without twisting u too badly, and some of my signature gravy. Glad to have a second fridge in the basement for all this stuff.

Hope your day is a good one.

Let me know how you like the Trager... I've been looking at about 6 different brands, as I love my old manual fire pit smoker, when I have all day or night to drink beer and babysit the pit, fiddle-farting with the controls to moderate the temp (which is roughly 2-3 days a year, **IF** I'm lucky). Been looking at Trager, Rec-Tec, Green Mountain, Yoder and a few others. Money doesn't always mean quality, but a great deal on the front-end usually doesn't translate the same on the back-end. Either way I intend to buy something, but getting un-biased opinions on grills is like asking what's the best year Farm Boss for logging with...

Well I got the Traeger based on a friend’s rec. reliability and versatility.
Here is what I’ve found:
Smoke flavor of pellets is not the same, les pungent. Temp control varies a bit more than the 15 degrees advertised. That said, the results are predictable, the two temp probes work very well, AND I don’t have to baby sit the process. I can be gone several hours, and this works well for me. It doubles as an oven with the twist of a knob. I have gotten spoiled very quickly. I got the cold smoke barrel to bolt on the end, and the insulating blanket. The 30” uses very little electricity, as it’s only a fan going once it gets lit and rolling. The enameled grill grate wipes clean with a rag, the cold smoker stays below 100 deg., and it works excellently. I am really glad I got it, though I know there are other brands that may be cheaper and just as good. I really like the cold smoke for my cured meats. The only downside is that it doesn’t sear steaks like a charcoal or gas grill, but it does what it does very well, and it is easy to use. It suits me just fine. I will say it’s a mistake to stock up on pellets for occasional use, because they seem to lose what flavor they have if they sit a while.

I love the taste of apple smoked meat, and it’s slightly less impressive with a Traeger, but the convenience makes it worth my while. If you’re doing competition smoking, there might be better choices.

Got the transmission swap in Mama's truck finished. Now I'm just plain tired, but she's a happy camper now. Has her truck back.
Also got the Van running sweet, too. The computers coolant sensor was reading too cold, causing the injection to throw WAY too much fuel. Blowing black soot, it was. Wouldn't hardly pull itself.
:)

Back to chainsaws! I've always ran Huskies but picked up a 7310 dolly! It is stock but I'm going to run it with Miss 372 so I guess. Open to advice from anyone!
They should be fairly close. The 7310 does it have the extra 16 oz.crap in the muffler. I bet it does remove that and it will free it up also trim the limiter caps on the carb. I have never ran a 7300 .

Good morning Black Friday survivors.
